Ted Loos Discovers The Whites of Soave

In an article published by Departures Magazine, Ted Loos discusses why Soave stands out in “an era when when the same flavors and grape varieties seem to keep coming around.”

Soave’s distinctive “antique” taste and character make it a wine that is hard to confuse with anything else, and it’s impressive and surprising ability to age set this versatile, food-friendly wine apart from the rest.

Soave is “the oldest white-wine area in the north of Italy,” explains Stefano Inama, which adds a rich history and years of experimentation to Soave’s résumé. “It’s the beginning, it’s the original.”

Nine wines were featured, including Gini’s Soave Classico La Frosca 2011 and Suavia’s Soave Classico Le Rive 2009 (Ted’s favorite out of all Soaves tasted!)
