The name of the toponym would give reason for the appearance of an area with thickets full of thick vegetation (FUSCUS). But it could also depend on the place where the poles were cut and removed for the support of vines and vegetables. This geographic unit is among the best known with- in the Soave Classico and falls between Monteforte d’Alpone and Soave. It consists of 3 volcanic cones: Foscarinetto which reaches 282 meters above sea level, the Boccara which reaches 292 meters and precisely the Monte Foscarino which rises up to 295 meters above sea level.
The whole area is clearly characterized by a volcanic matrix, with steep slopes, and moderately deep soils with the presence of crushed basaltic rocks in the first meter of depth.
The texture is clayey-silty or light-limestone that is weakly acidic and neutral in pH. Precipitation, tem- peratures and daily ranges are perfectly in line with the averages of the denomination.
